Branching Out

IMG_2771.JPG
Yarn: Louisa, by Home (50%Wool/35%Polyacryl/15%Mohair) 100m/50gr
Pattern: Branching Out, by Susan Pierce Lawrence
Needles: 5,5 mm

I Loved this pattern. I used it to learn lace knitting. The only difficult part was keeping my tension relaxed enough to do the k3tog without getting a knot in my neck! I loved the little difficulties that kept me awake when knitting it. I loved working with the pattern. And I even loved to find by myself how to correct the inevitable mistakes that appeared each time i tried to knit it when my three beloved children where close to me!
That green yarn may be a little bit "fat" for lace, but it makes a nice warm scarf, and the color is nice. I bought 4 skeins of the same yarn in blue, before they where all gone. The 100 meter skein was 3.25 CHF at Manor, less than 3$! I should have bought more of it. But I refrain. I was very much tempted by another Knitty's pattern: Belle Epoque but my dear half put his veto.

Update: I forgot to mention that I have changed one stitch of the pattern. I found easier and prettier to knit sssk instead of sl-k2tog-psso for the left inclined double-decrease. Maybe that could help someone else... (updated 17.02.2006)

Anyway I think I'ld much better finish my first sweater before beginning (or buying any yarn for) a second one. Did I tell you I started an Hour-Glas Sweater? Another Joelle Hoverson's pattern. I know that it is not the most original choice, but I like the simple shapes and my yarn is beautiful (Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Tweed in dark blue).

Here is a closer shot of the leaves pattern. I like the gardener stitch border too.

Très belle Branching out !

Shannon Thank you!
Mumintroll, Danke Schoen. Er war eine echte Freude zu machen.
